President Atifete Jahjaga received Mr. Robert Cooper

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Madame Atifete Jahjaga, received today the EU representative in the dialogue between the Republic of Kosovo and the Republic of Serbia, Mr. Robert Cooper, accompanied by the EU special representative in Kosovo, Mr. Samuel Zbogar and the Director for Western Europe, Western Balkans and Turkey, in the European Service for External Action, Mr. Fernando Gentilini.

President Jahjaga and Mr. Cooper talked about the dialogue between the Republic of Kosovo and the Republic of Serbia on issues of common interest, as well as about representing Kosovo in regional and international initiatives.

President Jahjaga said that the dialogue is taking place between two independent and sovereign countries and in full reciprocity on all issues. She said that the solutions arising from the dialogue must be solutions in accordance with the best European standards and practices and must be guaranteed by the EU.

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Madame Atifete Jahjaga, said that the dialogue in Brussels, with EU facilitation, is not developing on the status of Kosovo but on technical issues, of common interest between the two countries and it addresses specific issues.

She said that the representation of the Republic of Kosovo in the regional and international initiatives must be with the name under which it is recognized by 87 countries of the world and the name under which the Republic of Kosovo establishes bilateral relations, as a sovereign and independent country.

The EU representative in the dialogue between the Republic of Kosovo and the Republic of Serbia, Mr. Robert Cooper, praised the work that President Jahjaga is doing. He said that the dialogue has reached a certain progress and that the agreements have started to be implemented gradually. He was particularly interested in the position of the President on the issue of the representation of Kosovo in the regional and international initiatives and organizations.
