President Atifete Jahjaga met with the Turkish Foreign Minister, Mr. Ahmet Davutoǧlu

President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, met today in Munich, Germany, with the Foreign Affairs Minister of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Ahmet Davutoǧlu.

President Jahjaga expressed her gratitude to the Minister Davutoǧlu for the support that Turkey has continued to provide to Kosovo and on behalf of the citizens and institutions of the country thanked Turkey for the support in the field of international consolidation of Kosovo, especially in relations to the lobbying towards the recognition of independence by Pakistan very recently.

President Jahjaga stated that Kosovo has advanced on its European agenda and is accomplishing all standards as required by EU, inclusive of those related to Visa liberalisation and Stabilisation-Association Agreement, She emphasized that Republic of Kosovo has become a factor of peace and stability in the region and is contributing towards strengthening of good neighbourly policies.

In relation to the dialogue between the Republic of Kosovo and Republic of Serbia, President Jahjaga stated that normalisation of relations will contribute towards peace and stability in the whole region and will ease the lives of citizens on both sides of the border. She also said that the meeting between the two Presidents of the two independent and sovereign states, will help the dialogue process and will accelerate the European agenda of the whole Balkan region.

President Jahjaga emphasized that Republic of Kosovo and Republic of Turkey must expand their relations, particularly in the fields of economy and investments. Madam President presented the Turkish Minister with an invitation for the President of the Republic of Turkey to visit Kosovo in the near future.

Minister Davutoǧlu thanked the President for the invitation and said that Republic of Turkey and Republic of Kosovo are developing bilateral relations which can serve as example for the whole region. Turkish Foreign Affairs Minister said that that Turkey will stand next to Kosovo and provide  support in all relevant fields. Minister Davutoǧlu also said that Turkey will be particularly supporting Kosovo in the process of the recognition of its independence and will provide support to the dialogue between the Republic of Kosovo and Republic of Serbia being held in Brussels.
