President Osmani at the SEECP Summit calls on the EU for concrete actions for Kosovo

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, represented the Republic of Kosovo at the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) Summit held in Tirana. President Osmani wrote: We are grateful to President Begaj for the warm hospitality and leadership at this high-level summit of Southeast European state leaders in Tirana. During my address, I emphasized that the enlargement of the European Union is not a charitable process, but a strategic investment in Europe’s own security, stability and future. Therefore, it is time for the EU to move forward with concrete and well-deserved decisions for Kosovo, including the lifting of unjust measures and the granting of candidate status for our country. The citizens of Kosovo must not be held hostage by measures that directly harm them and serve neither peace, nor dialogue, nor the European future of our region. Kosovo’s orientation is clear and unwavering: towards the EU and NATO, as a natural part of the Euro-Atlantic family.

During her official bilateral visit to Japan, the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, met with the Prime Minister of Japan, Shigeru Ishiba. The President thanked Prime Minister Ishiba for the warm welcome and for his steadfast commitment to deepening the partnership between Kosovo and Japan. During the meeting, President Osmani and Prime Minister Ishiba discussed concrete opportunities for cooperation between the two countries, while the President emphasized that Kosovo remains a reliable partner and a committed voice in defending peace, democracy and cooperation — values that firmly unite us with Japan. In addition, the President reaffirmed the commitment of the Republic of Kosovo to further develop economic cooperation, including through Japanese investments in key industries. In this context, the President spoke about the importance of increasing exchanges between businesses and the lifting of the visa regime for all passports of Kosovo citizens, as a way to facilitate this cooperation, while thanking Japan for lifting visas for holders of official and diplomatic passports. She also spoke about the importance of deepening cooperation in other areas such as education, culture, tourism and other areas of mutual interest. Further, at the meeting, the President emphasized that the people of Kosovo remain deeply grateful for Japan’s ongoing support throughout every stage of our state-building process. The President also spoke about the importance of Japan’s support for Kosovo’s membership in international organizations, as well as the strengthening of our international position.
