The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has departed for an official visit to the United Arab Emirates, where she will participate in the World Governments Summit, to strengthen international cooperation and promote Kosovo’s vision for development and innovation. President Osmani has been invited to this Summit by the President of the United Arab Emirates, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The Summit will also be attended by many leaders from around the world, with whom the President will have bilateral meetings to discuss cooperation opportunities and joint strategic projects. On the anniversary of the February 3–4, 2000 massacre in Mitrovica, we remember with pain and deep respect one of the most serious wounds of the post-war period. In those dark days, Serbian criminal gangs killed 10 innocent civilians, injured 25 others and forcibly expelled 1,564 families with a total of 11,364 members from their homes. This was a clear crime against humanity, a brutal attempt to break the spirit of a city and to eliminate the presence of Albanians in the northern part of this city. Mitrovica stood and did not break, and this crime will never be forgotten and justice will remain an incessant demand We bow to the victims and stand with their families, because truth, memory, and justice are the foundation upon which lasting peace is built.

President Osmani wrote: At the age of only 16, Elfete Humolli stood up against the oppression and violence of the Serbian criminal regime, showing us that courage and love for the homeland are priceless. On the anniversary of her murder, we visited the Humolli family in Lupç i Poshtëm, laid a wreath and honored the memory of her brother Mentor, who was martyred in Koshare in March 1999.
