In this spirit, she underlined that the natural path for this strategic partnership is Kosovo’s membership in NATO, a process necessary to ensure long-term peace in our region. Madam President also emphasized the importance of advancing the Kosovo–US bilateral strategic dialogue as a mechanism for coordinating common priorities and opening new chapters of cooperation in various fields. Furthermore, she stated that the partnership between Kosovo and the United States of America constitutes a vital national interest and is existential to the Republic of Kosovo, highlighting the strategic priorities for the expansion of bilateral cooperation in the fields of defense and economic development.

Today we commemorate the historic hunger strike of the Trepça miners, started on February 20th 198,9 by 1,350 miners, who rose up against the oppressive policies of the Serbian hegemonic regime. Barricaded in the depths of the Stan Tërgu mine for eight consecutive days, they became a symbol of courage and dignity. With their resistance, the miners created solidarity and popular unity throughout Kosovo. Their sacrifice shook the foundations of a government that promoted differentiation and inequality. Their sacrifice turned into a cry for freedom and proved that the path to freedom is opened by the courage of those who do not give up
