The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani took part today in the planting of trees on the road axis at the “Adem Jashari” Prishtina International Airport.
The two co-organizers, Minister of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure Liburn Aliu and Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development Faton Peci were also present at the ceremony .
The planting of trees on this road axis marks a year-long activity carried out in the planting of more than 1 million trees. Today's activity was carried out in cooperation with the private sector, with the support of the “Chair Airlines” company.
On this occasion, President Osmani said that the issue of protecting the environment is not a luxury topic, it is a topic that has to do with our daily life, it is a topic that has to do with our health and it has to do with the land and the country that we live in and which we shall leave behind the children of the Republic of Kosovo, to future generations. It has to do with the air we breathe every day.
“Therefore, together with ministers Peci and Aliu, we have taken various initiatives since last year to plant trees throughout the Republic of Kosovo and we are continuing this today with the aim of initiating the second phase of planting trees that we will continue in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora and UNDP”, said President Osmani.
President Osmani said that in this second phase the diaspora of the Republic of Kosovo will also be engaged, which has by all means been engaged in every process not only of the economic development of our country but also in support of every family living in the Republic of Kosovo, thus becoming an extraordinary propeller of the country's economic development and environmental protection.
“And now this contribution will continue in the protection of the health of our citizens because by protecting the environment we also protect the health of all citizens. Therefore, by inviting everyone to give as much attention as possible to planting trees, to give as much attention as possible to greenery, to give as much attention as possible to the health of our citizens, we will join together today in this tree planting ceremony here at the airport, because as it was said it is the place or the first sight that all visitors to the Republic of Kosovo see, with the great hope that as many institutions and as many citizens and civil society organizations as possible and of course our diaspora too, join this initiative in order for Kosovo to become greener each day and consequently this also results in a much better and healthier life of the citizens” emphasized Madam President.
