The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, during her attendance at the inaugural summit of the European Political Community in Prague, met with the Prime Minister of Iceland Katrín Jakobsdóttir, with whom she discussed bilateral relations, Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe, inclusion in the program of the NATO Partnership for Peace, as well as strengthening of mutual cooperation based on shared values.
Madam President thanked Prime Minister Jakobsdóttir for the support that Iceland has given to Kosovo, especially in terms of international consolidation. President Osmani asked for the continuation of Icelandic support in terms of membership in the Council of Europe, as well as other international organizations, since Iceland takes over the presidency of the Council of Europe in November.
In this regard, President Osmani emphasized that Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe is necessary for the protection of the rights of Kosovo's citizens regardless of affiliation.
President Osmani and Prime Minister Jakobsdóttir also spoke about Kosovo's Euro-Atlantic path, the commitment of the country's institutions to continue working on important reforms in all areas, as well as the urgent need to conclude the visa liberalization process for Kosovo citizens.
