President Jahjaga visited the soup kitchen in the village of Prekoc, municipality of Novobërda

President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, accompanied by the Ambassador of the United States of America in Kosovo, Mrs. Tracey Ann Jacobson, visited today the soup kitchen in the village of Prekoc in the municipality of Novobërda.

“I visited the soup kitchen and congratulated Svetlana and the rest of the staff of this centre and thanked them for their continuous efforts and dedication and the service that they provide at this centre.” Stated President Jahjaga.

“ I offered them my strong support as the President of the Republic of Kosovo, for their work and their humanitarian mission, in their offering of basic alimentary needs to families or needy individuals”, added madam President.

Ask if she will be helping this centre in any manner, Madam President stated that” my presence here in itself is an institutional support as a President of the Republic for institutions like these”.

President Jahjaga also responded to the interest expressed by the present media in relation to the dialogue process between the Republic of Kosovo and Republic of Serbia, being held in Brussels.

When asked whether it was necessary for the new round of dialogue, planned for tomorrow, to be held and if any agreements are expected to be reached, President Jahjaga responded:

“I have stated on many occasions and want to emphasize it again; the dialogue process has no other alternative for the furthering of the normalisation of relations between Republic of Kosovo and Republic of Serbia, as two neighbouring countries with a bitter past between them. However, we must build a future, a future in function of the citizens and a better life of citizens on both sides of the border, normalisation this, which will also have an effect on calming of the situation in the region and which also contributes to the European agenda of both our countries.

Asked if she expects an agreement to be reached between the two countries, President Jahjaga responded: “Agreement is an inevitable point and it is necessary that an agreement is reached, because it is the only road which will lead towards full normalisation of relations between our two countries”.
