President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, received this afternoon for a meetings President Marti Ahtisaari, Ambassador Frank Wisner, Ambassador Wolfgang Ischinger, Head of the International Civilian Office Mr. Pieter Feith, Minister of the Foreign Affairs of Austria Mr. Michael Spiendlegger and other Ambassadors and Senior foreign officials.
Meeting was also attended by the Speaker of the Parliament of Kosovo Mr. Jakup Krasniqi and Kosovo’s Foreign Affairs minister, Mr. Enver Hoxhaj.
After a cordial discussion, President Jahjaga commenced the awarding ceremony for the honors awarded to the senior international personalities.
President Jahjaga awarded Ambassador Frank Wisner the honor of “Order of Independence”, order awarded to individuals for their contribution for the independence of Kosovo.
The honor was awarded in accordance with article 84, section 28, of the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo, articles 7 and 9 of the Law on conferment of decorations by the President of the Republic of Kosovo and Regulation on the types of honors awarded by the President of the Republic of Kosovo and awarding procedures.
President Jahjaga also awarded Ambassador Wolfgang Ischinger the honor of
‘Order of Independence”, order awarded to individuals for their contribution for the independence of Kosovo.
The honor was awarded in accordance with article 84, section 28, of the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo, articles 7 and 9 of the Law on conferment of decorations by the President of the Republic of Kosovo and Regulation on the types of honors awarded by the President of the Republic of Kosovo and awarding procedures.
At this ceremony, President Jahjaga awarded the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Austria Mr. Michael Spiendlegger the honor of “Order of Peace, Democracy and Humanity “Dr, Ibrahim Rugova”. This order, which contains the portrait of Ibrahim Rugova, is awarded to individuals whose life time achievements are classified as a special contribution to peace building, development of democracy and promotion of humanity.
The honor was awarded in accordance with article 84, section 28, of the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo, articles 7 and 9 of the Law on conferment of decorations by the President of the Republic of Kosovo and Regulation on the types of honors awarded by the President of the Republic of Kosovo and awarding procedures.
President Jahjaga also awarded the Head of the International Civilian Office, Mr. Pieter Faith the honor of “Medal of Peace and Reconciliation “Anton Çetta”, awarded to individuals who have contributed and continue to contribute to peace and reconciliation between people.
The honor was awarded in accordance with article 84, section 28, of the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo, articles 7 and 9 of the Law on conferment of decorations by the President of the Republic of Kosovo and Regulation on the types of honors awarded by the President of the Republic of Kosovo and awarding procedures.
President Marti Ahtisaari was awarded the Golden Medal of Independence in 2009.
