President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, has conducted the concluding consultations with the leaders of the parliamentary political parties and the chairwoman of the Central Electoral Commission, on the determination of the date for local elections on the territory of the Republic of Kosovo.
President Jahjaga, during the concluding consultations with political leaders, assessed that holding of municipal elections on the whole territory of the Republic of Kosovo, at the same time, is an important message for the citizens of the country and ensures territorial integrity and subjectivity of Kosovo.
Madam President emphasized that municipal elections must be fair, democratic and free, through which each citizen of the Republic of Kosovo, regardless, must be able to express its will freely, through their ballot.
She also emphasized that inclusiveness in municipal elections of the citizens of Serbian community, in the northern municipalities of the territory of the Republic of Kosovo, will enable them to elect their legal and legitimate representatives, resulting from their vote, which will work for the future of all citizens and for the integration of everyone into the society and institutions of the Republic of Kosovo. President Jahjaga appealed to all citizens of the Republic of Kosovo, who have the right to vote, to utilise this right and obligation of theirs in order to determine their future.
Participation at the municipal elections will enable the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo to help raise the wellbeing and improve their lives.
Based on the Constitution and the laws of the Republic of Kosovo, President Jahjaga has decreed November 3rd, 2013, as the date when the municipal elections will be held.
