Madam President: In Krushë e Madhe and Krushë e Vogël, where hundreds of men and boys, children and women were cruelly killed and where the absence of the missing still weighs upon the land like an ongoing silence

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, participated today at the memorial gatherings, on the 27th anniversary of the massacres in Krushë e Madhe and Krushë e Vogël.

President Osmani wrote:

Today was not just a memorial. It was a return to the remembrance that does not fade and to the pain that refuses to become the past.

After many years of waiting and pain, in Krushë e Vogël we said our final goodbye to Ajvaz Shehu, who until now had been forcibly disappeared. He was only 15 years old when he was killed, while for 27 years, his mother hoped that she would find her son. In Krushë e Madhe and Krushë e Vogël, where hundreds of men and boys, children and women were cruelly killed and where the absence of the missing still weighs upon the land like an ongoing silence, every step seemed to touch living history. A reality where even Serbia’s attempt to erase the traces of the crime with fire failed to extinguish the truth, but made it even stronger, even more indelible.

And yet, in this space where pain has taken hold like an unwritten law, life has not retreated. In the eyes of children raised without parents, in the silence that is not surrender, but memory, in the ceaseless fight for justice, a resilience appears that resembles the history of Kosovo itself. Krushë e Madhe and Krushë e Vogël are not only memories of the crime, but moral boundaries of a history that seeks justice and refuses to be closed in silence.

Eternal glory to those who fell for freedom!
