The Acting President of the Republic of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, on the side-lines of the EU-Western Balkans Summit in Tivat, met with the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Andrej Babiš.
During the meeting, Acting President Haxhiu thanked the Czech Republic for its continued support to Kosovo in state-building and in Euro-Atlantic processes as well as in strengthening of the international subjectivity of the Republic of Kosovo.
She praised the good relations between Kosovo and the Czech Republic, emphasizing that the advancement of diplomatic representation with full ambassadors reflects the level of cooperation and mutual trust between the two countries.
Kosovo’s European path and the importance of a credible enlargement process were discussed at the meeting. Acting President Haxhiu expressed her appreciation for the Czech Republic’s support to the European perspective of the Western Balkans and sought its support for Kosovo’s future steps, including the submission of the European Commission Questionnaire and the move towards candidate country status.
Acting President Haxhiu emphasized that Kosovo sees the Czech Republic as an important partner also in the field of economy, with new opportunities for cooperation in energy, green technologies, innovation, digitalization, healthcare, infrastructure and advanced industry.
She also expressed Kosovo’s gratitude for the Czech Republic’s contribution to KFOR and for its continued commitment to maintaining peace, security and stability in Kosovo and the region.
Acting President Haxhiu reaffirmed Kosovo’s commitment to the deepening of relations with the Czech Republic and expanding cooperation in areas of common interest.
