President Shiroka Pula’s speech at the traditional symbolic walk in support of women affected by breast cancer

Today, we have gathered together to convey a clear message: early detection saves lives.

Breast cancer affects many women and their families. Facing this disease requires courage, care, and support.

It also requires awareness. No woman should delay a medical check-up due to fear or a lack of information.

According to the Oncology Clinic, approximately 450 to 460 women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year.

Therefore, awareness and regular check-ups are essential.

Early detection increases the chances of successful treatment and survival. We must strive to ensure that as many women as possible detect the disease in its early stages.

This requires regular screenings, ongoing education, and healthcare services that are accessible to all women.

Mammograms are provided free of charge in public healthcare institutions. Through mobile mammography units, these services are also being brought closer to women in municipalities that lack such equipment.

Taking care of one’s health should not be limited to “Pink Month” alone. It must be part of a year-round commitment.

Therefore, today we call upon all women: do not neglect your health. Get checked in time. Talk to healthcare professionals. Encourage other women to take care of themselves as well.

Dear women,

Today, we are also here to offer support to those facing this disease. We stand with the women currently undergoing treatment, and with those who have already fought this battle. We also stand with the families who have lost their loved ones.

Let us turn this march into a shared commitment. Let us talk more about prevention. Let us seek regular check-ups.

Because behind every check-up lies the possibility of early detection—and with early detection comes a greater chance at life.

Remember, it is not just about the “pink month”—it is about the entire year!

Thank you!
