The Acting President of the Republic of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, together with the Minister of Health, Arben Vitia, distributed oncology care packages as part of the activities marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month—”Pink October.”
On this occasion, Acting President Haxhiu stated that, within the framework of Pink October—the month dedicated to breast cancer awareness—they visited women battling the disease to show their support, address the challenges and needs these women face, and stand by them during a difficult period of their lives. “On this occasion, today we also distributed packages to meet their needs—a gesture of solidarity as well as institutional support. I would like to take this opportunity to emphasize once again that the health of women and girls in the Republic of Kosovo is of great importance. Therefore, I urge every woman not to postpone her check-up until tomorrow, but to undergo screening immediately. As you know, mammography is free of charge. I also call upon the families of those affected by breast cancer to support them, because, as I mentioned, their health is vital not only to our society but also to the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo,” stated Acting President Haxhiu.
She further added that investments have been made in recent years.
“Yesterday, at the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, we launched the breast cancer awareness campaign—right in the place where laws are enacted and the budget for the Republic of Kosovo’s institutions is allocated,” the Acting President emphasized.
She expressed her gratitude to the Oncology Clinic—specifically the director and the entire staff, including doctors, nurses, and all others who stand by patients during the most difficult moments of their lives. “I wish full health and a long life to the women facing this disease, and I say to them: stay strong. Institutions and society stand with them during these very difficult times. Many of them are here today—we have already met some, and we will have the opportunity to meet others after this conference—but their strength and the energy they convey to us are truly extraordinary,” said Acting President Haxhiu.
