The Acting President of the Republic of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, visited today the Association of Civilian Victims and Invalids in Kosovo, where she was received by the Director of this Association, Mustafa Prenku.
On this occasion, Acting President Haxhiu stated that this is her second visit to this Association.
“I made the first visit when I was Minister of Justice, within the framework of the 16 Days of Activism against Domestic Violence campaign, and now also as Acting President”, said Acting President Haxhiu.
She said that today she will be obtaining detailed information on the progress that has occurred since then, and of course, about the needs and challenges that this center faces.
“After this meeting, I will have the opportunity to meet with the Mayor of Fushë Kosovë, Mr. Valon Prebreza, to discuss support for organizations that deal with such cases, including cooperation with the organization I am here with today,” said Acting President Haxhiu.
Acting President Haxhiu also met with women who are victims of sexual violence.
From her visit to this Association, she called on all persons who were sexually abused during the recent war in Kosovo to apply for recognition of their status.
“On this occasion, allow me to take this opportunity to call on all persons who have been sexually abused during the recent war in Kosovo to apply for recognition of their status. You know that four licensed organizations deal with the assistance to survivors of sexual violence, including the organization we are in, which have continuously helped abused individuals to overcome the challenges they face,” emphasized Acting President Haxhiu.
Acting President Haxhiu said that while she was Minister of Justice, we increased the budget for organizations that deal with family and social issues.
“There were many organizations at that time; the Ministry of Justice supported their projects, and the goal was to be close to the challenges that the organizations faced so that through our support, they could overcome them. We will learn much more from the meeting we have with the women, because we will take, as I said on the spot, the challenges they face. In the past, there were health issues that they have dealt with, which we have raised with the Ministry of Health and of course, based on their responsibilities, all institutions will address the responsibilities they have in their mandates “, said Acting President Haxhiu.
