Traditional walk for life, under the slogan “Early detection-Survival” is a joint contribution of ours towards sensibilisation of the public opinion about breast cancer, which is continuing to take many lives in our country.
The ailment of cancer, which indiscriminately touches upon all layers of the society, and upon both genders, has become a global concern, as the number of those touched by this illness is increasing on daily basis. Aware of this, endeavours of scientific and medical community are also increasing aiming to find a cure, as well as to prevent this illness.
From this manifestation, I call upon our institutions for more care attention and care, for greater engagement and dedication to the battle of early detection of breast cancer, for larger financial support to the scientific research, as well as procurement of all necessary medication for treatment and prevention of this illness.
With the engagement of all of us together, we shall be successful! We will win over the illness!
We have demonstrated that with untiring work and devotion, many a challenges can be overcome, many illnesses can be prevented, if diagnosed early enough, and the only way for an early detection is to have regular medical check-ups, which should become part of our general culture for the sake of a healthier lives.
It is better, and cheaper, to prevent than to cure. For this reason I encourage all of you to undertake regular medical check-ups.
All you brave women, sisters, mothers and girls, touched by this illness but have not given up, I beg you to share your experience and stories with other women and girls, because in this way you will help early detection and will thus be saving lives!
There is nothing more valuable than human life, so let us value it!
Ladies and Gentlemen, honourable participants,
A year ago I congratulated the group of female members of parliament on their initiative to obtain funds for a mobile mammograph, and today, with a great deal of pleasure, I would like to congratulate them again for the successful accomplishment of this noble mission.
Mobile mammograph will be in service to women everywhere, in all parts of Kosovo. It is our joint aim to provide access to medical care to every single women, in order to prevent new cases of breast cancer and to detect it at earliest possible stages.
In our midst are many women who did not give up, who fought and continue to fight for a qualitative life even after being diagnosed with breast cancer. There are many family members who have carried upon their shoulders the struggle for the curative process of their most beloved. Their strength should serve us as an example not to stop in our search for a cure, to triumph over the illness of breast cancer. In such a manner is acting the Director of Kosovo Centre for Breast Cancer “Jeta-Vita”, Mrs. Nafije Latifi, who has for years endeavoured to distribute information on this illness and to raise the civic awareness on the danger posed by this disease.
We must, as a society as well as each one of us individually and as institutions, every single day demonstrate our care and support for all those touched by cancer and for their families.
To win over this illness, we must win consecutive battles. While your family members, your most beloved, are with you at all times, rest assured that we are also with you at all times.
With the “Walk for Life”, we are showing commitment to awareness raising on danger from this illness, informing the public with symptoms, treatment conditions at health institutions and with the opportunity for a normal and dignified life.
The fight against the breast cancer is a joint fight of ours!
