President Thaçi received the representatives of the law enforcement agencies, thanked them for the fulfilment of the visa liberalisation criteria

Prishtina, July 19th 2018 – President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, received today the representatives of the law enforcement agencies of Kosovo, whom he thanked for their contribution towards the fulfilment of visa liberalisation criteria.

“All the justice and law and order institutions, have worked with determination and high professionalism towards the fulfilment of all criteria set by EU as conditions towards visa liberalisation” said President Thaçi and added that “ institutions of Kosovo, citizens of Kosovo, are grateful for this engagement of theirs”.

EU Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship at the European Commission, Dimitris Avramopoulos, on Wednesday July 18th, at a joint press conference with President Thaçi in Brussels, said that European Commission considers that Kosovo has fulfilled all the required conditions for visa liberalisation for the citizens of Kosovo.

President Thaçi stated that such a decision comes after the susuccessful reforms and the determination of the institutions of Kosovo to fulfil all the conditions, and considered the decision as a deserved one.

The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Judicial Council, Nehat Idrizi, Chief State Prosecutor, Aleksandër Lumezi, Chairman of the Supreme Court, Enver Peci, Chairwoman of Prishtina Basic Court, Afërdita Bytyçi, Chief Prosecutor of the  Special Prosecution, Reshat Millaku, Internal Affairs Minister, Bejtush Gashi, as well as the Justice Minister, Abelard Tahiri.

Representatives of the law enforcement agencies stated that their dedication to the strengthening of the law will continue after the visa liberalisation, in the interest of the citizens of Kosovo and European perspective.
