Brussels, April 15th 2019 – The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, met today with the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, with whom he discussed the political situation, the European perspective, visa liberalisation and the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.
President Thaçi thanked President Tusk for the support which EU has provided to Kosovo during the last two decades.
He also stated that the region continues to remain in a difficult status quo, which is slowing down a number of processes.
“Solution to all the disagreements between western Balkan states and a clarity, dynamism and a greater EU dedication to the perspective of the western Balkan countries are the best answer to this stagnation,” said President Thaçi.
After the fulfilment of all the criteria, President Thaçi stated that slowing down of the decision on visa liberalisation for the citizens of Kosovo is meaningless and unacceptable, despite all the continuous justifications made by EU and member states.
President Thaçi also pointed out that Brussels and the West are the sole strategic orientation of the Republic of Kosovo.
