Ljubljana, June 7th, 2016 – President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, on the second day of his official visit to Slovenia, participated today at the opening of the Slovenia-Kosovo Economic Forum, organized by chambers of commerce of Slovenia and Kosovo.
The forum was opened by President Thaçi and his Slovenian counterpart Borut Pahor.
President Thaçi said that Slovenia, as the second largest investitor in Kosovo, is an important economic partner for Kosovo.
“The Stabilization and Association Agreement and the admission to the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) is yet another confirmation of Kosovo’s commitment to the implementation of comprehensive reforms in the economy, politics and rule of law”, President Thaçi told the attendees.
The head of state said that these achievements of Kosovo reflect a greater trust among businesses to invest in Kosovo and also prove the potential for economic development.
On the other hand, President Thaçi’s counterpart, President of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor stressed that Slovenia has valuable experience in economic development, adding that other countries should take example from the Slovenian state.
The Vice-President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia, Martin Novsak said that this forum is a good occasion to seek opportunities to deepen economic cooperation between the two countries.
Whereas the chairman of the Economic Chamber of Kosovo, Safet Gerxhaliu said that the discussions were particularly focused on the 5 “e”-s: Europe, Economy, Environment, Education and Experience.
Among the attendees at the forum were also the mayors of Shtime, Rahovec, Istog, Lipjan and Kastriot, and other representatives of the Economic Chamber of Kosovo and businessmen from Kosovo and Slovenia.
Yesterday, the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi was received by his Slovenian counterpart, Borut Pahor, Prime Minister Miro Cerar, as well as the Mayor of Ljubljana, Zoran Jankovic.
