President Thaçi and Ambassador Delawie today signed the amendment of the 30 million dollar agreement between Kosovo and U.S.A

Prishtina, 12 December– The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Hashim Thaçi, the U.S.A Ambassador to Kosovo, Mr. Greg Delawie, and USAID Kosovo Mission Director, Mr. James Hope today have signed the amendments to the Agreement on Development Objectives Grant between Kosovo and USA.

President Thaçi expressed his gratitude for this 30 million dollar grant supporting the rule of law, good governance, promotion of private sector investment and human capacity building.

“Today's agreement between the Republic of Kosovo and the United States of America is a step forward in the strong support that the United States has given to the consolidation of the state of Kosovo in the field of rule of law, economic development and overall progress, for which we are grateful to you, honoured Ambassador, and to the United States of America”, stated President Thaçi.

He further stated that the last days of the year have been very positive for Kosovo, particularly tomorrow, when a new agreement in the energy sector for Kosova e Re – an investment of 1 billion and 300 million Euros from American investors, will be signed.

“This is the very best message that could come from Kosovo in the verge of the tenth anniversary of independence, and a message showing to foreign investors the good investment climate in the Republic of Kosovo”, added the President.

Whereas, the Ambassador of the United States of America to Kosovo, Mr. Delawie, stated that today’s ceremony of signing the grant assumes that very commitment: joint work during 2018.

“This Grant Agreement adds more than 30 million dollars to USAID’s activities that will address Kosovo’s main development challenges, such as: advancing rule of law and good governance, increasing a diverse economy that creates investments and opens new jobs, as well as empowering Kosovo youth with academic and professional skills so that they can become the next generation of Kosovo leaders” stated Ambassador Delawie.

He stated that the development partnership between United States of America and Republic of Kosovo is strong.

“It reflects almost two decades of joint work for a better life and a brighter future for Kosovo’s citizens. The USA remains steadfast in its commitments and we expect the continuation of our partnership”, stated Ambassador Delawie.

President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, thanked the American Ambassador, Delawie, and Head of USAID, Hope, for the ongoing support for Kosovo.
