President Osmani’s visit coincides with the 15th anniversary of the recognition of Kosovo by Portugal and the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
“This is an important and historic moment to express gratitude to the state and people of Portugal for the contribution made over the years. This support has greatly influenced the advancement of our primary goals in the path of Euro-Atlantic integrations, the strengthening of regional peace and stability,” emphasized President Osmani.
President Osmani also added that she sees Portugal as an amicable country within the European Union and beyond, and stated that she hopes for additional support for Kosovo’s membership in international organizations. In this context, Madam President thanked Portugal for its support in the visa liberalization process and for the membership in the Council of Europe and expressed hope that Portugal will also support the provision of EU candidate country status to our Republic.
Part of the meeting was devoted to the latest political and security developments in Kosovo.
