During her visit to Austria, the President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani met today with the Speaker of the Parliament of Austrian Wolfgang Sobotka, with whom she discussed further advancement of cooperation between the two countries.
Madam President praised Austria's support for Kosovo and appreciated the fact that Austria was among the early supporters of the efforts of the people of Kosovo for freedom. She expressed her gratitude to Austria for its attentiveness towards the people of Kosovo, especially for the education of young people, when this right was being denied to them in their country.
“The people of Kosovo cannot forget the support that Austria gave to our young people, recognizing the diplomas of our educational institutions during the occupation period, creating excellent opportunities for them to build their future and contribute to their country. Today, many of them are an important part of our institutions”, emphasized President Osmani.
In this spirit, the President expressed her conviction that Austria will continue to support Kosovo in the completion of the liberalization process, membership in the Council of Europe and other international organizations. President Sobotka reconfirmed the continuation of Austria's support for these goals.
With the speaker of the Austrian Parliament President Osmani also discussed the expansion of inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.
President Osmani potentiated that Kosovo continues to remain committed to close cooperation and coordination with international allies in contributing to sustainable peace and security.
Regarding the dialogue with Serbia, President Osmani said that this process should focus on mutual recognition and preserve the integrity of Kosovo's sovereignty and constitutional order.
The Speaker of the Austrian Parliament Wolfgang Sobotka thanked President Osmani for the visit and emphasized that Austria is committed to further expansion of relations between our two nations and countries and emphasized Austria's readiness for further cooperation.
