The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, during her official visit to Montenegro, visited the municipalities of Ulqin and Tuz.
In Ulqin, President Osmani was received by the mayor of the municipality Omer Bajraktari. At the meeting with Mayor Bajraktari, President Osmani expressed her deep gratitude for the contribution of the municipality of Ulqin during the 1999 war in sheltering their brothers and sisters from Kosovo.
“Ulqin is a meeting point for Albanians, regardless of where they come from. We are connected to Ulqin not only through family, fraternal and friendship ties but also via memories of the difficult days of our recent history. Ulqin, Ana Mali and many other settlements in Montenegro in 1999 became a shelter to many Kosovars, to whom you opened your doors and your hearts, hence on behalf of the citizens of Kosovo, thank you!” President Osmani also stated that: “Nowadays we come to Ulqin for pleasure, to take advantage of the touristic opportunities, to maintain the connections and to further strengthen them.”
During her stay in Ulqin, President Osmani held separate meetings with the representatives of the Albanian parties in Montenegro, as well as with a group of intellectuals and friends of Kosovo.
In the Tuz municipality, President Osmani was received by the mayor Nik Gjeloshaj with whom she discussed the current developments in this municipality and the challenges the municipality faces.
President Osmani expressed the necessity to increase the cooperation of both Ulqin and Tuz with local institutions of the Republic of Kosovo as well as with central institutions, in the function of economic, cultural, touristic exchanges, as well as in other areas of mutual interest.
In Tuz, President Osmani also visited the potato chips factory which is one of the largest foreign investments in Montenegro with an investor from Kosovo.
During her stay in Tuz, President Osmani expressed her gratitude for the hospitality and generosity shown in 1999. She spoke about the friendship and the unique relationship, as well as the determination towards the intensification of cooperation in the future.
