The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, received today the Rapporteur for Kosovo at the European Parliament, Mr. Riho Terras.
The latest political developments in the country, during which President Osmani emphasized that the local elections were held in a completely free, calm and democratic manner and that the transfer of power was carried out peacefully were discussed at the meeting.
President Osmani emphasized that, despite constructive cooperation, the continuation of the EU measures against Kosovo remains inexplicable, unjust and unreasonable.
In this context, President Osmani requested the support of Mr. Terras for the swift lifting of these measures, recalling that they harm citizens and undermine trust in the integration process, while Kosovo has met every request presented by its European partners.
According to President Osmani, the lifting of the measures would be a strong signal to citizens and an encouraging message for the continuation of reforms.
President Osmani further stressed the need for Kosovo’s application for EU membership to be processed as soon as possible and for membership to be based on merit.
During the meeting, the President presented a series of data from international institutions that position Kosovo at the top of performance in many key areas.
