The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, received today the Chargé affairs of the United States Embassy to Kosovo, Ms. Anu Prattipati.
The latest developments in the country, including the security situation in Kosovo and the region were discussed at the meeting.
Speaking about the security situation and developments in this area, President Osmani emphasized Serbia’s ongoing tendencies to destabilize Kosovo and the entire region through well-coordinated actions with illegal structures and Serbian criminal gangs. President Osmani discussed with Ms. Prattipati yesterday’s arrest of Serbian citizens in Gjakovë and Prizren, who claimed to be on a pilgrimage. However, investigations so far have shown that these groups had connections with Serbian military intelligence structures as well as with members of the Banjska terrorist group.
Madam President emphasized that this action is part of a continuous effort by Serbia to destabilize Kosovo, through threats and violence. According to the President, this constitutes an unacceptable interference in the state sovereignty of the Republic of Kosovo.
President Osmani also strongly condemned these destabilizing and unacceptable acts, emphasizing that Kosovo will not tolerate any interference that endangers peace, constitutional order and the security of all its citizens, regardless of their affiliation. She thanked all security institutions for their work in defending the country and discussed with Ms. Prattipati the continued cooperation with the US in this regard.
Madam President also informed Ms. Prattipati of other concrete steps that she will take, within her constitutional competences, to expand the strategic alliance with the US, and to protect the interests of the Republic of Kosovo.
