The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, received today David Lammy MP, at the same time the Shadow Foreign Secretary of the Labour Party in the United Kingdom.
At the meeting with MP Lammy, President Osmani thanked the United Kingdom for its continuous support to Kosovo since the 90s and in this context asked for further backing in fronting the challenges that Kosovo is facing at this time period.
The President emphasized that Kosovo, as a joint success of its people and international allies, has undertaken important steps in strengthening democracy as well as the rule of law and order. Being always on the right side of history, Kosovo has aligned itself with its allies even with the decisions on sanctions against Russia and in support of Ukraine. But as President Osmani pointed out, the interest of Russia's satellite- Serbia to destabilize the Western Balkans region, is greater than ever before as Serbia is interested in thwarting the success of the dialogue process and achieving its goals through criminal gangs incited violence.
Therefore, President Osmani added that Kosovo still needs the support of allies as is the United Kingdom, in order to undertake steps forward in further strengthening and consolidation of its international position as well as in fighting the Russian-Serbian destabilizing tendencies.
In particular, President Osmani pointed out the importance of support for membership in the Council of Europe as well as in the NATO Partnership for Peace, as immediate priorities.
The dialogue process with Serbia was also discussed at the meeting with President Osmani reiterating the fact that Kosovo continues to be the constructive party which is facing Serbia's ongoing impediments.
Madam President potentiated that it is important that the United Kingdom continues its legacy of support to Kosovo not only in the strengthening of its international subjectivity but also in the intensification of cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
