The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, hosted today the Austrian Federal Minister for Europe, Integration and Family, Ms. Claudia Plakolm, and the Slovenian State Secretary for European Affairs, Ms. Neva Grašič.
Kosovo’s excellent relations with Austria and Slovenia were discussed at the meeting. President Osmani thanked them for their support for Kosovo, as well as for their engagement in promoting regional stability.
President Osmani further emphasized Kosovo’s progress in implementing European reforms and requested the support of Austria and Slovenia for the lifting of the EU’s restrictive measures, describing them as unjustified in relation to the country’s achievements. President Osmani also said that she hopes that these two friendly countries will be among the strongest voices in pushing forward Kosovo’s application for EU candidate status, as they have done with several countries in the region before.
Finally, President Osmani underlined that Kosovo remains fully committed to the European values of democracy, equality and human rights, while friendship and partnership with Austria and Slovenia are important pillars of the country’s foreign policy.
