The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, who is visiting Malaysia, was received today with high state honors by Prime Minister Anwar bin Ibrahim, at the “Perdana Putra” Government Complex in Putrajaya.
At the meeting, President Osmani thanked Prime Minister Anwar for the unwavering support that Malaysia has given to the Republic of Kosovo, emphasizing that Malaysia was among the first countries in the world to recognize the independence of Kosovo in 2008.
President Osmani also thanked Prime Minister Anwar for the abolishment of visas for the citizens of Kosovo, emphasizing that this decision will open new opportunities for strengthening ties between the citizens of the two countries, but also in cooperation in areas of common interest.
President Osmani praised Malaysia’s contribution in key periods of Kosovo’s state-building, from the post-war period to date, and thanked Prime Minister Anwar for his continued support for strengthening Kosovo’s position in the international arena.
In gratitude for the recognition and contribution of the Malaysian state to Kosovo’s independence, the state-building process, and its commitment to strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries, President Osmani awarded the Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim the Order of Independence.
Opportunities for cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, innovation, tourism, and other areas of mutual interest were discussed during the meeting.
In this context, President Osmani raised the need for the holding of a Kosovo-Malaysia economic forum.
President Osmani invited Prime Minister Anwar for an official visit to Kosovo, as evidence of the common will to further advance this partnership.
