The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received today at a meeting the institutional and political representatives of Albanians from Preshevë, Medvegjë and Bujanoc. The central topic of this meeting was the population census process in the municipality of Preshevë, Bujanoc and Medvegjë.
President Osmani appealed to Albanians to respond en masse to the population census, which is taking place until the end of this month. According to President Osmani, the most massive participation in the registration is a measure against Serbia's chauvinistic policy, which is trying to carry out ethnic cleansing through administrative measures.
The president underlined that mass registration means political and institutional empowerment of Albanians. Hence, Madam President offered the support of Kosovo's institutions and our diplomatic missions to call for the registration of all Albanians of Preshevë, Bujanoc and Medvegjë who reside in Kosovo or in other countries.
In this spirit, President Osmani called for the unification of the Albanian factor for the priority issues faced by Albanians in order to eliminate the obstacles that Serbia is making in the registration process.
Furthermore, President Osmani emphasized that in all meetings with international representatives she has continuously raised the problems faced by the Albanians of Preshevë, Medvegjë and Bujanoc, as a result of the policy of the Government of Serbia, aiming at the internationalization of demands for the rights of Albanians.
In this context, she reiterated the importance of cooperation between the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo and the Albanian representatives from Preshevë, Medvegjë and Bujanoc in the handling of the entirety of problems faced by Albanians.
