The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received today the delegation of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Portuguese Parliament led by the chairman of this committee Sergio Souza Pinto whom she thanked for Portugal's support to Kosovo.
President Osmani discussed with the Portuguese delegation the interstate relations and Portugal's support to the process of visa liberalization and membership in the Council of Europe.
According to President Osmani, the European Commission has recommended the lifting of visas for Kosovo as Kosovo has met all the required criteria. Hence, political decision-making during the Czech Presidency is more than urgent and the entry into force of visa liberalization should not remain hostage to any technicality.
At the meeting with the Portuguese delegation, the president also spoke about the importance of Kosovo's admission to the Council of Europe. According to her, membership in this organization advances freedoms and human rights. In this context, she thanked Portugal for its support to date.
Mutual readiness for the exchange of experiences and the advancement of cooperation between both parliaments, as well as in the field of foreign policy, defense, education, tourism and other spheres of common interest, was also mentioned at the meeting.
