The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, in a ceremony held at the Presidency, presented the Presidential Medal to the Oda rock group for the promotion of musical values as part of the golden generation of rock in Kosovo.
On behalf of the group, the Medal was received by Mr. Dukagjin Lipa, who thanked President Osmani for the award.
President Osmani emphasized that Oda, like many other groups of the 80s, were not only performers, but also catalysts of social changes.
“Oda’s music is an emblem of cultural identity and pride for Kosovo. Their musical creativity continues to be evidence of the transformative power of art in different times and periods, being also transformed into a means of resistance”, said President Osmani.
Otherwise, the Presidential Medal was awarded to the Oda rock group a year ago in a ceremony where other rock bands of that period were also honored, as were other institutions and personalities who have contributed over the years.
It is worth noting that this ceremony was held on the eve of the commencement of the Sunny Hill Festival. Unable to be present due to her international agenda, President Osmani congratulated Mr. Lipa, Dua Lipa and Sunny Hill Foundation for the excellent work, wishing them another immensely successful edition.
