The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, met during her stay in Iceland with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iceland, Thórdís Kolbrún Reykfjörd Gylfadóttir.
The readiness of our two countries to deepen interstate cooperation in foreign policy was reconfirmed in the meeting with Minister Reykfjörd Gylfadóttir.
President Osmani expressed her willingness to enhance cooperation and contacts during the Council of Europe Icelandic Presidency, reiterating our country’s steadfast commitment to promoting human rights, the rule of law and democracy. She mentioned the great importance of further advancement of Kosovo’s membership in this organization for the Kosovo citizens, stating that Kosovo is the embodiment of the values represented by the Council of Europe.
President Osmani and Minister Reykfjörd Gylfadóttir discussed, inter alia, the current situation in the region, Europe and beyond, as well as the need to stay united against anti-democratic actors that aim to destabilize and threaten our common freedom-loving values. President Osmani underlined the importance of advancing Kosovo’s Euro-Atlantic path, mentioning the steps taken for alignment with the EU and NATO, as proof of the steadfast determination of the Kosovo people for this process.
