The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, during her visit to Canada and on the sidelines of the International Security Forum in Halifax met with the German MPs: Jürgen Hardt, Peter Beyer, Stephan Mayer and Roderich Kiesewetter.
At the meeting with the German MPs, President Osmani emphasized that the relations with the German state are excellent and that this state represents a strategic partner for Kosovo. According to President Osmani, Kosovo needs German support further on, especially on its European path, as well as in applying for membership in international organizations.
President Osmani reiterated that Kosovo has already met the criteria for liberalization and demanded that the EU keeps its promise made to the citizens of Kosovo. At the meeting with German MPs, President Osmani stressed that Kosovo is constructive in the dialogue process with Serbia but mentioned the inciteful discourse from the Serbian side, as well as the extension of Russian influence in the Balkans in order to destabilize the region.
President Osmani in this context stressed that the dialogue with Serbia should end with mutual recognition and reiterated that Kosovo will not become part of any regional organization in which it won't be treated as an equal party.
