The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received today at a meeting the chairman of the Central Election Commission Mr. Kreshnik Radoniqi.
The central topic of the discussion was the announcement and organization of snap elections after the resignation of the elected officials in four municipalities in the north of the country, as well as the replacement of the MPs who have also tendered their resignations.
Madam President emphasized at the meeting that the necessary steps are being taken to announce the date of the snap elections for the posts of the mayor of North Mitrovica, Zveçan, Leposaviq and Zubin Potok in accordance with the Constitution and laws of the Republic of Kosovo. She added that political entities will soon be invited for consultations prior to the setting of the election date within the legal time limit.
The president was informed by Mr. Radoniqi that the Central Election Commission has the necessary capacities to organize snap elections for mayors of four municipalities in the north of the country.
