It was with deep sorrow that I received the news of the passing of the former Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, academician and distinguished professor, Nexhat Daci.
Academician Daci was a rare personality who combined scientific knowledge, academic dedication, and institutional commitment, leaving an indelible mark as Speaker of the Assembly, MP, academician, and leader of the country’s scientific institutions.
During the most difficult years for the people of Kosovo, particularly during the nineties, Academician Nexhat Daci was strongly engaged to serve the cause of freedom and independence as a close associate of the historic President, Dr. Ibrahim Rugova. With knowledge, prudence and vision, he made a valuable contribution to establishing the strong foundations of the state of Kosovo.
His multidimensional contribution to state building, the development of higher education and the advancement of science will remain an important part of our institutional and intellectual history.
In these difficult moments, I express my most sincere condolences to the Daci family, friends, collaborators and all those who had the fortune to know and work with him.
May the memory of Academician Nexhat Daci be eternal!
