On April 5, 1999, in the village of Rezallë in Drenicë, the forces of the Serbian genocidal regime committed one of the worst war atrocities in Kosovo. Surrounded in their homes, 98 boys and men – residents of Rezallë and surrounding villages – were ferociously executed. As if murder was not enough, they hid the bodies of 44 of the victims, another dark act aimed at erasing the traces of the genocide. Some of these bodies were found years later in mass graves in Rudnica in Raska, in the territory of Serbia.
The Rezallë massacre was part of a systematic plan by the Serbian state for extermination, forcible expulsion of Albanians from their land, through persecution, mass murder, rape, burning and destruction.
We will not stop seeking justice, nor will we stop remembering and honoring them forever.
