The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has commemorated the anniversary of the Meja Massacre.
President Osmani said that in this sacred land of pain, we sow hope for a future with more justice and more dignity.
President Osmani wrote:
Today, with a heavy heart, we commemorate the Meja Massacre, one of the deepest wounds of Kosovo. 376 innocent lives were cruelly taken by the genocidal regime of Serbia, just because they were Albanians.
The wounds left behind by this tragedy are still open, but our pain and determination have united to not allow the truth to be forgotten.
Every person killed and every person disappeared by force during the war, every dream violently interrupted, is our oath for justice.
In this sacred land of pain, we sow hope for a future with more justice and more dignity.
The memory of the martyrs of Meja will live forever in our hearts.
Glory to their lives and sacrifice!
