President Osmani: adequate development in early childhood is our chance for an advanced society

Under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani and in co-organization with the World Bank and with the support of UNICEF, the first high-level organization on Early Childhood Development took part today.

In her speech, President Osmani stressed that investing in healthy development in the early years of a child's life is the best guarantee for success in education, significant productivity growth, economic performance and better health.

“It is not enough to keep repeating that the first years of a child's life are what make the difference. It is precisely the first years of children's life when their brain develops at a significantly faster rate than ever before throughout a person's life. Every time we adults talk and sing to them, make them laugh, play with them and have fun, it increasingly affects their mental health, building healthy relationships, but also teaches you some of the skills more important for a more successful future and higher well-being. “The more investment in their early childhood, the greater and more beneficial will be the return on investment in their years of youth and adulthood,” said President Osmani.

According to her, children do not develop following a linear development trajectory.

“Their journey towards the age of maturity passes through different phases, challenges and trajectories. What we must not forget is that children thrive on the opportunities that are created for them. Today, we have the opportunity to give every child a chance to thrive and do the best they can with his or her life. “Adequate development in early childhood is our best chance for an advanced, more productive society, and with higher well-being”, President Osmani emphasized in her speech.

This activity was concluded with the approval of a series of commitments through which the country's institutions have agreed on coordination and cooperation in the field of early childhood development.
