It was an honour and privilege to be a witness today of the ratification of the Stabilisation Association Agreement between Kosovo and European Union, of this important moment of Kosovo and its European future.
Today we got together, despite our differences and our political orientation, responsible for the historic weight of this moment. We took essential step for the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo together, on strengthening of the European perspective of our state and we commenced the irreversible journey to make Kosovo a member of the European Union.
This journey continues to be full of sacrifices and we must be cautious to the long list of the priorities which await us on making the Republic of Kosovo a candidate country for European Union membership/ We are still consolidating the statehood of Kosovo, still strengthening our sovereignty, and are still facing the challenges of the transition, which can be mostly seen in deficiencies in the rule of law and our education and healthcare systems.
Beyond the strong symbolism of the pro-European orientation, ratification of the SAA must be seen as the beginning of an institutional and social dedication to deep reforms, which will strengthen our internal democracy and will improve the level of governance and the living standard of each citizen of ours.
This day once seemed unimaginable and unreachable. This day arrived. This day is for the young generation of the Republic of Kosovo, for all the opportunities that will be offered to them for a better future. This ratification is a guarantee for all the parents who have often felt insecure for the future of their children during these years of transition and state building. Together, with lots of sacrifice and toil, we are achieving all, one by one.
