President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, received today at a meeting the Speaker of the Parliament, Mr. Kadri Veseli, with whom she discussed the coordination and advancement of the proceedings of the institutional work.
President Jahjaga and Speaker Veseli spoke about the expedition of the processing of the draft law related to the participation of the citizens of Kosovo in armed conflicts in foreign countries, in order to intensify the war on terrorism. They both potentiated the importance of promulgation of the draft law on electronic supervision of individuals whole freedoms have been curtailed by judicial verdict or parole board decision, and of the draft law on eavesdropping of electronic communication, related to European integrations process, with particular emphasis on the visa liberalisation process for citizens of Kosovo.
President Jahjaga and Speaker Veseli also potentiated the necessity for the adoption of the draft law on changes and amendments of the law on conflict of interest in exercising of public function, which will help in fighting of corruption and organised crime, which stems from recommendations issued by the National Anti-Corruption Council led by Madam President herself.
President Jahjaga also stated that Parliament of Kosovo needs to work on compensation of the time lost during the last years six month period and establish a proper system of parliamentary democracy.
Speaker of the Parliament of Kosovo, Mr. Kadri Veseli informed President Jahjaga for the to date activities of the Parliament and plans for the promulgation of four laws of special interest for the country, which touch upon the field of national security, rule of law and European integration. He also added that meetings with President of the country, as part of constitutional competencies of both institutions are good practice for inter institutional coordination and that these meetings will continue aiming the advancement of democratic processes in the country.
