The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Madam Atifete Jahjaga received today the President of the International Olympic Committee, Mr. Thomas Bach, accompanied by a high delegation of the IOC, whom she awarded the Presidential Medal of Merits, for his contributions for the sport of Kosovo and its acceptance of equal member of the IOC.
President Jahjaga highly praised the commitment of Mr. Bach to internationalize the sport of Kosovo and its recognition in the international scene, and assessed that with the admission of Kosovo in the IOC the perspective for the young men and women of Kosovo to show their talent in the international stage is opened. She said that Kosovo is consolidating internationally and this is being proved by its acceptance in the family of the International Olympic Committee.
The President of the IOC, Mr. Thomas Bach, said he was honored with the reception being done in Kosovo and praised the role of the President and the institutions of the country institutions in advancing the sport of Kosovo. He said that with the acceptance of Kosovo in the IOC, also the entire great activity of the Kosovo Olympic Committee and the responsible institutions in the field of sports is recognized.
Mr. Bach said the acceptance of Kosovo in the IOC helps the country in its internal and external consolidation and joins all people in sport.
The President of the IOC awarded President Jahjaga the medal of the IOC which marks the creation of the International Olympic Games, with which the heads of states and extraordinary personalities are honored. He invited President Jahjaga to participate in the official opening of the North Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil next year.
Present at the meeting with President Jahjaga were also the President of the Kosovo Olympic Committee, Mr. Besim Hasani, representatives of the Ministries of the Government of Kosovo and representatives of various sports Federations of Kosovo.
