President Jahjaga received the KFOR Commander, General Salvatore Farina

President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, received today at a meeting the Commander of NATO Peacekeeping force, KFOR, General Salvatore Farina, with whom she discussed the actual situation in Mitrovica and in the northern municipalities of the Republic of Kosovo.

KFOR Commander, General Farina, informed President Jahjaga with the actual situation in these municipalities of Kosovo, after the re-erection of the barricade on the bridge of the city of Mitrovica. He said that NATO Peacekeeping force, KFOR, has augmented their presence in this part of the city, in order to guarantee a safe and peaceful environment for all the citizens.  He said that it is necessary for issues to be resolved step by step by establishment of trust among citizens, and emphasized the dedication of KFOR towards fulfilment of its mission in Kosovo.

President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, said that re-erection of the barricade on the Mitrovica bridge is unacceptable and at the same time it impinges the freedom of movement for all the citizens of Kosovo, regardless. She said that re-erection of the barricade prevents the progress of Kosovo and also prevents the full integration of all citizens into the social and institutional life of Kosovo.

President Jahjaga emphasized that citizens of Kosovo, inclusive of the Serbian community residing in the northern part of the country, through their participation in the 2013 municipal elections and the general elections of June of this year, have demonstrated their readiness for building of a mutual, democratic and all inclusive Kosovo, in which rule of law and order prevails and in which there is no room for barricades.
