President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, received today at a meeting the Chief Prosecutor of the Special Investigations Task Force, Mr. Clint Williamson, who is currently visiting Kosovo.
President Jahjaga said that institutions of Kosovo are dedicated to cooperate with SITF in the forthcoming period, in order to strengthen the law and order and to fulfil the obligations towards the international and local justice.
President Jahjaga stated that the Parliament of Kosovo has endorsed the establishment of a Special Tribunal and at the moment of consolidation, the newly elected institutions will implement the ratified agreement by undertaking the necessary legal amendments required for the accommodation of the new tribunal.
President Jahjaga stated that she is dedicated that Kosovo’s approach to justice is to be comprehensive and that investigations stemming from the Council of Europe report are not an attempt to judge our collective battle for liberation and freedom but to investigate alleged individual crimes.
President Jahjaga assured Mr. Williamson that Kosovo is determined to face and address these accusations through a credible process and will fulfil its obligations with responsibility and dignity in order to conclude this chapter which will strengthen Kosovo’s position internationally.
Mr. Williamson, who is visiting Kosovo prior to the announcement of the investigative findings, thanked President Jahjaga for her support provided for the Special Investigations Task Force.
