The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Madam Atifete Jahjaga, received today a delegation from the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament, which was headed by the Vice President of this Parliament, Ms. Ulrike Lunacek.
President Jahjaga informed this delegation about the general developments in our country, with emphasis on the processes and reforms which are being developed and which are related to the meeting of the criteria for visa liberalization and the signing of the SAA.
President Jahjaga told the European Parliamentarians that the challenges of the Republic of Kosovo are similar to those of all countries of the region aiming the integration into the European Union and emphasized the commitment of the Kosovo institutions to overcome them and create better conditions for life for all citizens.
President Jahjaga stressed the commitment of the Kosovo institutions for combating organized crime and corruption, the establishment of order and law, stating that Kosovo is an example for the entire region for the approach it has shown towards global challenges such as extremism and radicalism.
President Jahjaga discussed with the MEPs also about the dialogue process with Serbia, where she once again reiterated the importance of implementing the agreements reached in this process, since she considered that there are delays in implementing them in practice. She reaffirmed the position of the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo to build good relations with all the neighboring countries, including Serbia.
Speaking about the transformation of the Kosovo Security Force into the Kosovo Armed Forces, President Jahjaga stressed that the decision for the creation of this force was made after the review of the security sector and in close cooperation with NATO.
The Vice President of the European Parliament, Ms. Ulrike Lunacek and the other members of the delegation of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament, expressed the continued support of this institution for the clear European perspective of Kosovo. They highly appreciated the role of President Jahjaga in creating a very positive image of the Republic of Kosovo in the international arena and her contribution to the developments within the country.
