The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani has received an invitation from the President of the United States of America Joe Biden, to participate at the second Summit for Democracy.
According to the invitation, in addition to the speech that Madam President will deliver alongside the heads of other states in accordance with last year’s format, President Osmani has also been selected among the ten leaders who will be the keynote speakers of the plenary session discussing the role of democracy in the establishment of stable institutions.
The Summit for Democracy is an initiative of the White House that seeks to highlight the success of democracy for the benefit of citizens as well as address the world’s most difficult challenges.
On December 9th, 2021, President Osmani represented Kosovo at the first edition of the Summit for Democracy, a platform that has united countries around the globe in their efforts to consolidate democratic values and to promote and further strengthen them.
The Republic of Kosovo, throughout the past year, has achieved significant successes in the three commitments which aimed at strengthening of the rule of law and the fight against corruption, the fight against authoritarianism, the advancement of human rights, diversity and inclusiveness with a focus on advancing women’s rights and gender equality.
Due to this success, out of more than 100 participating countries, the Presidency of the Republic of Kosovo has been selected by the White House to co-lead the thematic group on the rule of law.
