President Atifete Jahjaga received the UN Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations, Hervé Ladsous

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Madam Atifete Jahjaga, received today the UN Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations, Mr. Hervé Ladsous, with whom she discussed about the current developments in Kosovo, the European perspective of Kosovo and the region, and the dialogue for the normalization of relations with Serbia, as well as the economic development and the creation of a good and secure business climate for the withdrawal of foreign investment.

President Jahjaga praised the partnership that Kosovo has with the international community, noting that the country is a joint success story of the people of Kosovo, its institutions and the international community. President Jahjaga stressed that Kosovo is consolidating its international presence, becoming an important factor of peace and stability not only in the region, and promotor of good neighborly relations. She said that the acceptance of Kosovo in the international institutions and organizations is important, particularly in the EU and the UN.
President Jahjaga informed the UN Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations, Mr. Hervé Ladsous about the commitment of the institutions of Kosovo to strengthen the rule of law and order and the commitment in the fight against organized crime and corruption. Talking about the fulfillment of the international obligations in the field of justice, President Jahjaga said that Kosovo is dedicated to implement the decisions taken by the majority of votes of the Assembly of Kosovo for the creation of the Special Court since only in this manner it would conclude a heavy chapter, which does not judge the war of the people of Kosovo for freedom and independence.
Talking about the process of the dialogue between the Republic of Kosovo and the Republic of Serbia, President Jahjaga stressed the importance of the implementation of the reached agreements and the further commitment towards the full normalization of relations between the two countries. She said that the Republic of Serbia must renounce from the further support of illegal structures in the northern part of the territory of the Republic of Kosovo and help the citizens of the Serb community to integrate into the social and institutional life of Kosovo.
The UN Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations Mr. Hervé Ladsous praised the achievements in Kosovo and expressed his interest about the developments in Kosovo and the region.
