The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Madam Atifete Jahjaga, received today the former President of Finland, Ms. Tarja Halonen, with whom she had a cordial and long conversation.
President Jahjaga and President Halonen talked about the current developments in Kosovo, its European perspective and that of the region, about the dialogue for the normalization of relations with Serbia, issues of human rights with particular emphasis on the fate of the missing persons.
President Jahjaga praised the partnership and the excellent relations that Kosovo has with Finland emphasizing that Kosovo is a joint success story of the people of Kosovo, its institutions and the international community. President Jahjaga said that Kosovo is today an important factor of peace and stability in the region and promotor of good neighborly relations. President Jahjaga said that Kosovo is becoming an important partner in the field of security and is consolidating its international presence and subjectivity.
President Jahjaga and the former President of Finland, Ms. Tarja Halonen also discussed about the dialogue between the Republic of Kosovo and the Republic of Serbia. In this case President Jahjaga stressed the importance of the implementation of the agreements reached and the further commitment towards the full normalization of relations between the two countries.
The two interlocutors also spoke about the issue of the more than 1,600 missing persons and the need for a quick solution of this problem to ensure the spiritual tranquility of the families and peace. They also discussed about the issue of the victims of sexual violence during the war and the help that should be provided for their reintegration into society.
The former President of Finland, Ms. Tarja Halonen praised the achievements in Kosovo and stressed that Finland is one of the friend countries which will support the stability, the law and order and the European perspective of Kosovo.
