President Atifete Jahjaga met with former British Prime Minister, Tony Blair

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Madam Atifete Jahjaga, met today in London, in the Embassy of Kosovo, with the former Prime Minister of Great Britain, Mr. Tony Blair and his wife, Mrs. Cherrie Blair.

President Jahjaga highly praised the commitment of former Prime Minister Blair for Kosovo, in the defense of the people of Kosovo during the war, with the NATO air campaign decision which prevented the humanitarian catastrophe and later through the aid in the reconstruction of the country and its state building process. She also thanked him for the support he has given to Kosovo in the ongoing preservation and cultivation of religious tolerance, a special value of the state of Kosovo.
 
President Jahjaga and former Prime Minister Blair praised the achievements of Kosovo, the democratic and inclusive building of the country, the challenges in the process of European integrations, the dialogue with the Republic of Serbia and the agreements reached to be implemented, the building of the state of law as well as the challenges in the field of security in the fight against extremism.

President Jahjaga stressed that Kosovo and the whole Balkan region should have a clear European perspective and should be included in all the initiatives and projects of the EU for the region and maintain the climate moment of cooperation between the countries in the region.

Former Prime Minister Blair said that Kosovo has achieved a lot in the state building process and it must continue to strengthen its internal democracy and international consolidation.
