The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Dr. Vjosa Osmani – Sadriu, remembered the fallen in Rakoc and of the New Neighborhood (Lagjja e Re) in Kaçanik.
President Osmani said that today we remember with honor and respect all those women and men, who are a powerful pillar of freedom, independence and our state.
“Among others, the Battle of April 9 also testified the courage and contribution of women to the freedom of the country”, stressed the President.

22 years ago, the forces of the Serbian genocidal regime attacked Rakoc and the New Neighborhood in Kaçanik. In the Battle of April 9, 1999 while protecting the threshold of their homes 28 fallen and 32 martyrs fell.
Members of the 162nd Brigade “Agim Bajrami”, of the KLA, loved freedom and sacrificed for it. Their sacrifice is a historical testament on the path to freedom.
Today we remember with honor and respect all those women and men who are a powerful pillar of freedom, independence and our state.
Among others, the Battle of April 9 testified the courage and contribution of women to the freedom of the country. On the altar of freedom, this day fell: Lumnije Raka, Jehona Raka, Emsale Frangu and Mukadeze Muhaxheri-Lika.
