President Thaçi invites French companies to invest in Kosovo

Paris, March 16 – The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, participated today at the high-level meeting of the Business Council France-Kosovo “MEDEF International” in Paris.

President Thaçi has said that as a new state, with the youngest population in Europe, Kosovo is eager for knowledge, jobs, development and prosperity, presenting a great potential for investment.

He said that reforms in all sectors of life have been made in Kosovo and the best confirmation of these achievements is the signing of the Stabilization and Association Agreement with the European Union, but also the receipt of the status of candidate country for MCC funds of the American Congress.

“Both of these are evidence of our success in comprehensive reforms and the consolidation of the state of Kosovo. We are a country with constant economic growth, averaging 4 percent per year, since when we are a state. We have stable public debt and a successful and stable banking system”, said President Thaçi.

The Head of State has also talked about the construction of roads and highways linking Kosovo to the countries of the region and beyond, to the continent and to the largest ports, adding further that the domestic production and the quality of the products have continually increased.

“We have continued to open schools and universities to prepare manpower, to be competitive in Europe. Today we see European and world companies that have come to Kosovo and are using these capacities and these potentials of Kosovo”, he addmited.

The President said that above all, today Kosovo is a country that has closed the war chapter and is a state focused on development, cooperation and integration.

“We have clearly said that we see ourselves in NATO and in the European Union. We have welcomed the confirmation from NATO and the EU that Kosovo, as well as the whole Western Balkan region, belong in these two organizations”, said President Thaçi.

The Head of State has stressed that Kosovo is no longer the Kosovo of 20 years ago, but it is a country that has successfully overcome the war destructions and has turned to peace and development.

“In this success of ours we are grateful for the support of the international community. The international community has been together with us in building our legal system, which guarantees justice for everyone”, he said.

President Thaçi expressed gratitude to the French state, which has supported Kosovo in building peace, building the state and now supporting us in building a European future.

“We are grateful that companies from France have been among the first investors in Kosovo. But we want to deepen this cooperation, especially in the economy”, said President Thaçi.

He has invited Frech companies to look into opportunities to cooperate as much as possible in the field of economy, with mutual interest of both countries, but also of our entire continent.
